Incident Report Listing

Below is a listing of reported incidents in the Wexford Village Neighborhood. The intent of this listing is to inform the neighborhood and log incidents for future actions. If you have an incident to report, please use the following incident reporting form. We will not publish names, phone numbers or addresses, but a general discription of the event, general vacinity and action taken, if any.

Date Vicinity Incident
4/8/10 Wexford Park area incident: Last night our mailbox was pulled out of the ground. Also, the rear windshield of our car was smashed. Our car was on the driveway overnight. Nothing else was damaged or stolen. The mailbox of our neighbor across the street was broken off at the base last night, too.

action: I submitted a Citizen Self Report form on the Madison Police Department website.

10/31/09 N Westfield Rd incident: On October 31, 2009 between 2am-6am - Garage doors were spray painted with green and reddish/orange paint. No Halloween decor was taken.

action: Police called.

8/11/08 Old Sauk Rd, Westfield, Branford Lane, Sawmill, Gammon Rd. incident: On August 11, 2008 at approximately 1 am, a Wexford homeowner was traveling west on Old Sauk Road. A dark blue/purple SUV (Ikea or Toyota) was traveling east on Old Sauk Road. The SUV made a sudden U-turn at Sauk Trails and raced to catch up to the homeowner. Followed the homeowner into Wexford Village and into cul du sac where the resident resides. The resident pulled into driveway and the SUV idled near the drive way. The resident proeceeded to pull out of
the driveway and the SUV followed him throughout the neighborhood. He then left the neighborhood and eventually lost the pursuers. He drove around for about ½ hour (outside the neighborhood)and returned home. He did not see the SUV at this time.

action: Attempted to call West Madison Police District but the number listed on the Wexford Website was disconnected. No other action other than looking out for the SUV.

7/15/08 N Westfield Rd incident: Evening of July 15, 2008 between 9pm-3am: garage door was left open. Someone entered into 2 unlocked vehicles. Rummaged thru center consoles, tried to take radar detector. Nothing was taken from garage or vehicles.

action: Police were not called.

7/15/08 Westfield Rd. incident:We had one of our cars broken int as it was parked in the driveway overnight. Our neighbors also had their car broken into that same night and they had a satellite radio taken. This is the second time we've had vehicles broken into.
7/14/08 N. Westfield Rd. incident: Our car was broken into on the night of July 14th or early morning of the 15th. It was in our driveway unlocked by accident. Our satellite radio and child's MP3 player were taken. The person responsible also emptied out our console and glove box and threw it all over our car.

action: I filed a police report.

6/20/08 Wexford Park

incident:On Friday morning, June 20th between 12 AM and 2 AM the flower beds at Wexford Park were vandalized. Mostly all of the flowers were pulled out or broken off.

action: Called Police (case #08-170021) and the Parks Dept.
Reward being offered.
Complained to officer that kids are partying in the shelter late at night and if we call it in no one responds. He will make 2nd and 3rd shifts award of what is happening.

6/08/08 Norwalk Circle incident: Around 11:30 pm, someone heaved a landscape stone into the front window of our house, shattering the bottom half.

action: Called 911. Madison Police arrived shortly and did a check of the area.

5/01/08 Wexford Village Park shelter
Around the 1st of May, as I was driving east on Sawmill Rd I noticed two youth on top of the park shelter roof. It was mid day on a school day and I thought that the situation was inappropriate. The youth appeared to be about middle school age and they were throwing things from the roof. They had gained access by stacking two picnic tables on top of each other. I called the Madison Police Dept non emergency number and a squad car appeared in about 10-15 minutes. I observed that an of
ficer made contact with the youth and I departed the area.
1/07/08 Sawmill & Gammon incident: Back window of parked vehicle (in driveway) was smashed...week of January 7th between 11:00PM and 6:00AM.

action: Madison Police Department was called and advised that an incident report would be mailed.

11/15/07 Sawmill Road

incident: At approximately 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 15, 2007, I heard sounds from the front of the house. I looked out a front window and noticed a young male, tall, thin, stoop-shouldered, wearing a gray knit cap, climbing onto the back seat of a moving vehicle headed west on Sawmill Road. The vehicle may have been a light-colored late model jeep. I opened the front door and notice that all of our front landscape lights had been beheaded.

action: I called the non-emergency number and requested that an officer check the scene/neighborhood. Since I did not have a detailed description of the vehicle or suspect, dispatch could only file a report. I mentioned that I live across from Wexford
Park and that our neighborhood has been the target of too much vandalism and juvenile delinquency.

11/9/07 Redmound circle Mailbox torn down and run over.
10/25/07 Harvest Hill Rd On October 25, our scarecrow was stolen from a front porch.
10/26/07 Fiskdale Cir

incident: Teenaged roughnecks continue to ride small motorbike on Wexford paths as recently as the night of Wednesday, October 24.

The residents a home on Fiskdale Circle continue to be an issue with the motorbike ridding, the trash in the yard and junk on the back deck. What used to be a nicely kept yard and home has turned in to a neighborhood eyesore since the current residence moved in.

10/22/07 Westfield Rd. and Apple Hill Circle incident: A dead black cat was thrown or put in our side yard last night or early this morning. My guess is it happened about 11 PM. (There was no evidence that the cat crawled into the yard and died.)

action: PD was called, but will take no action. Officer Cindy was e-mailed. City of Madison was called who asked the cat be placed in the curb area for pick up and disposal, probably tonight.

10/17/07 Westfield Road and Apple Hill Circle

incident: Between 7:30 AM this morning and 4 PM this afternoon (10/17/2007) a sharp-edged stone the size of a large robin's egg was thrown/shot against the rear of our house with such force that a one and a half-inch gash was punched through the aluminumsiding. (The siding is new, having been replaced 2 years ago.) The stone had to be thrown/shot from Apple Hill Circle as our backyard is bounded by Apple Hill. Based on other observations, I have an educated guess that the event happened after 2:45 PM.

action: The police were called and informed, and the event was reported as vandalism to Cindy T. (A previous report was made concerning a damaged mailbox in the same vicinity 2 months ago.)

10/15/07 Woodmont Circle Incident: There was a strange gentleman parked on our street around 11:00pm. He kept leaving and coming back. Speeding down our circle and the adjacent circle each time. At one point he got out and walked up the adjacent circle.
Action: We called the nonemergency line. The officer stopped him as he was walking back to his car. Unsure of the outcome exactly, but he did get in the back of the patrol car, leaving his car. It was gone by morning.
10/06/07 greenway, walkway from

incident: Some Middle school or high school boys are driving mini bikes down the bike paths again. It is the same kids or house that was doing it earlier in the summer. The kids were followed to 18 Fiskdale Circle. A neighbor approached the parents on the matter and were told it would stop. Obviously it didn't. Another neighbor followed them as they ran into the house. This neighbor went to the house(which the kids went into) but no one answered the door. They drive from their circle along the bike path as far as Branford Lane. They do so in Broad daylight as well as after dark. They do not stop for pedestrians.
action: police were called once this summer. But they continue to ride the bikes.

10/05/07 Westfield Rd.

incident: Orange Juice & cup thrown at park car.
action: none taken.

9/29/07 Park incident: There was several young teens in the park at 11:00pm on Saturday September 29th. When asked to leave, they did, with no problems.
action: The children were just playing on the playground equipment, and not causing any damage. When asked to leave, they did, so the Police were never called.
8/30/07 N. Westfield Rd. Mailbox was ripped off of the post and thrown into side yard along walking trail.
9/8/07 Longmeadow Rd.
incident: There was an attempted break-in at a home on Saturday 9/8/07 sometime between 5:00 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. No one was at home, and the front porch lights were on. A casement window on thefront porch was open, and someone tried to enter through
the screen. The screen frame was all bent and mangled. It is believed that noone actually entered the house because the border collie barked and frightened the person away.

action: Madison Police were called. Two squads came and the officers searched the house and checked for fingerprints.
8/31/07 Tramore/Sawmill incident: Vehicle had eggs thrown at it the weekend of Aug.31st around the Tramore/Sawmill area
8/30/07 Wexford Park incident: Extensive damage was done to the Wexford Park shelter the night of August 30th. (Thursday) Many shingles on the roof were ripped off, the sky light and light were smashed, a tree was destroyed, lock on chains for picnic table was broken, broken liquor bottles on the basketball court, trash barrows dumped out.
action: Police and parks deptartment notified.

8/17/07 1100 block Tramore Trail incident: Friday August 17th at 11:30pm Heard a car door close in the driveway, went out to see who was here and found that unknown persons were inspecting the contents of our vehicle (which we must have left unlocked) when they heard me they left on foot. It seems we were able to interrupt any theft of items. There were at least 2 people, only able to determine 1 to be young/teen male by his voice. The garage/driveway lights were on at the time. It is possible they had a car parked a street over and were walking the block checking for open cars. Shortly after a dark colored 4 door car with at least 4 teens inside came out of Chesterton Circle stopped by our driveway to watch us checking over our car, then drove off.
8/13/07 Morningdale Circle
incident: Items were stolen out of car parked in driveway
action: Contacted the police and filled out an incident form
July Windhaven Circle incident: Sometime in July, someone rifled through both cars parked in our garage, taking loose change and a wallet. (Garage door was open.)

action: None by us. Wallet was later found by a Wexford resident along path and turned in to the police.

7/29/07 Sawmill incident: Late Saturday evening I found a Roadmaster bicycle on the walking path near Windhaven Circle. If it's yours please call 827-9463. Also a bike was stolen out of the garage on Windhaven Circle on a Sat. night several months ago. The helmet was found tossed on the walking path nearby.
7/22/07   Mailbox smashed
7/22/07 Wexford Park

Incident: The hoses for the sprinklers had been cut in many places. It is disturbing to think that someone had to be carrying a very sharp knife with them in order to cut through the industrial hose that is use for flooding the ice rinks.
Action: reported it to the police department. Officer Ehly responded (case # 07-85212).

7/17/07 Sawmill incident: Bicycle stolen from garage when door was left open overnight.

action: Filed report with Madison police

7/14/07 North Westfield Rd
incident: Between the hours of 12:00 (midnight) and 4:00 the mailbox was knocked over. We don't know if it was done on purpose (vandalizm) or if it was an accident (someone hit it w/ their car). The orange construction barrier sitting in the driveway due to the new concrete gutter & base of driveway was also knocked over.

action: Called the self report line (608.245.3662) to report the incident.

6/19/07

incident: Liquor is missing from a garage. Approximately 1/2 case Hard Lemonade-type and two bottles of wine were taken from a garage refrigerator between June 15 and June 17 when they were noticed missing.

action: No action was taken on the missing liquor.

6/16/07   incident: Our house was vandalized by what appears to be paintballs. There is some damage to the siding where two baseball sizes holes are left. There are numerous spots on the siding, screen, and painted surfaces.

action: Reported to the parks department and the police department. The police department did respond and looked at it.
5/5/07 Westfield Rd
incident: My sister parked her car in our driveway over the weekend. The door must have been unlocked and someone entered her vehicle, took some small items. It also appears that they tried to use the opener from her car to open our garage (which was unsuccessful). They left the opener on the hood of her car.
4/21/07 Wexford Park On Saturday night someone spray painted graffiti on the door and walls of the pump house. They also sprayed paint into the lock so you are unable to unlock the door. The light above the door was also covered with paint.
